Basic Trail DescriptionThis one day hiking trail initially ascends in a valley through an indigenous forest, fynbos and wattles. It leads to a beautiful view over the Ruiter valley and the sea at Mossel Bay. The major attractions of the trail are waterfalls and swimming holes. Two sets of interesting Bushman paintings can be viewed. Basic facilities for making coffee and lunch are available at the major swimming hole. The return route follows the Kouma river (with many pools) reaching a sudden climb up the face of the valley. The final part of the route runs once again through fynbos, grassland and old pastures over the plato up to the house. For those who prefer not to walk the whole trail, transport can be organised to the top of the waterfall. |
