Basic Trail Description:

The Oorlogskloof Hiking Trails are situated inside the Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve, 16 km outside the town of Nieuwoudtville in the Northern Cape. It consists of two circular trails; Rock Pigeon (4-5 days), Rameron Pigeon (4-7 days) and two day hikes; Leopard Trap (15.5 km) , Rietvlei (17.9 km)

These trails provide breathtaking views over the Oorlogskloof River canyon and the 'Knegsvlakte". Amazing Table Mountain Sandstone rock formations, San paintings and a spring add to the experience. The Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve hosts a wide variety of fauna and flora like Cape Mountain Zebra (Equus zebra zebra), springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis), leopard (Panthera pardus) and the newly discovered Afrika Clivia (Clivia mirabilis). From Karee forests (Rhus lancea)
next to the river where you find the Rameron pigeon (Columba arquatrix) to the Mountain Fynbos on the plateau where the rock pigeon (Columba guinea) occur. The unspoiled wilderness character of the reserve presents the opportunity to nature lovers to enjoy a unique wilderness experience..
