Basic Trail Description The Oorlogskloof Hiking Trails are situated inside the Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve, 16 km outside the town of Niewoudtville in the Northern Cape. It consists of two circular trails; Rock Pigeon (4-5 days) and Rameron Pigeon (4-7 days) and two day hikes; Leopard Trap (15.5 km) and Rietvlei (17.9 km) These trails provide breathtaking views over the Oorlogskloof River canyon and the 'Knersvlakte". Amazing sandstone rock formations and plentiful Bushman paintings and springs add to the experience. The Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve hosts a wide variety of animals and plant communities. From Karee forests next tot the river to lovely Fynbos on the plateau. These trails truly provide something for every hiker. |
