Basic Trail Description The Kloofendal Nature Reserve lies next to Wilgerood Avenue in the North Western side of Johannesburg. It comprises 110ha of hilly grassland, bushveld savanna, river systems and a dam. It has a surprising pristine atmosphere for a reserve in the heart of a busy city. It includes the first gold mine on the Witwatersrand - a National Heritage Site. It is fully fenced with a security guard on duty at the entrance. It has a network of shorter and longer walks which can be self guided. A variety of game species and bird life occurs. |
Accreditation underwritten by: South African Hiking Trail Owners Association (SAHTOA), Hiking Organization of Southern Africa (HOSA), Open Africa, ANVIE Ventures, ARA, JACANA MARKETING & RESERVATION, Ecotrail & Ecoplan. |
