Basic Trail Description: This is the stuff that hiking trails should be made of - streams, cliffs, valleys, an indigenous forest and wild horses! The wild horses of Kaapschehoop are one of the few remaining wild herds in South Africa and these beautiful creatures add an element of mystery to the trail. The trail takes you along the village with its striking Victorian architecture and many interesting shops. The trail also has the largest single known population of blue swallows in southern Africa with a patch of grassland that has been set aside specifically for the protection of their habitat. |
