Basic Trail Description: Hoeriekwaggo represents a spectacular four-night, five-day, 97km trail stretching from Table Mountain to Cape Point through the World Heritage site of Table Mountain National Park. Hikers may do the full five day trail or can arrange their hike in smaller stages of four-day, three-day or two-day sections of the trail. Hikers are able to arrange their own trail guide by contacting 021 465 8752 or 021 462 7861. Hikers must make their own shuttle (drop off and pick up) and porterage arrangements. The Hoerikwaggo Tented Classic is a truly sustainable community project that has developed out of the local community and run by them. The n ame Ho e r i kwa g g o me a n s “Mountain in the Sea”. It is a well planned and constructed trail running along mountain streams and through areas of sandstone mazes. It passes through beautiful fynbos and along white sandy beaches. The coastline with panoramic views overlooking False Bay and the Cape Peninsula are impressive although distant urban areas are often visible; with its concomitant vehicular noise. Various historical places en route add to the interest of this magnificent educational trail experience. Hikers start at Cape Town. |
