Basic Trail Description

The trail is located 25 km from Pretoria and 40 km from Johannesburg, in the hills south of the Hartebeespoort Dam.

It consists of two walks - the Krokodilberg (11,3 km) and the Zebra (6,2 km) trails. The hikers are in visual and audible contact with the R511 road for the first half-hour of walking. Thereafter the trails enter mostly natural environment with only a few houses and the Pelindaba-complex to be seen.

The vegetation is typical bushveld in its pure form without alien invader plants. Although there are cattle on the farm, game abounds - especially on the Zebra trail. There are no drinking water or swimming places on the trails but the cultural historic heritage to be experienced is noteworthy. The huts accommodate 18 (Hadeda camp) and 20 (Loerie camp) people respectively.
