Basic Trail Description The Dolphin trail runs for 17 km along the spectacular Tsitsikamma coastline – a narrow coastal strip between the Indian Ocean and the interior plateau bordering the Tsitsikamma Mountains. The trail is fully catered and all baggage is transported. The accommodation is fully luxurious and the scenery is pristine: crossing coastal fynbos, indigenous rainforest, rugged coastal rocks along the splashing waves and ending at the Sanddrift River. The chances of spotting whales, dolphins and perhaps otter, are good. En route many birds including the gorgeous Knysna Loerie (turaco) can be heard and spotted while walking at leisure through the forest. Tree ferns and majestic Yellowood trees give character to this experience. Along the cost the endangered Oyster catcher is to be seen. Swimming and snorkeling in the rock pools is possible under the watching eye of the trained guide.. |
