A trail is regarded as having rustic, standard or luxury accommodation if it has the following facilities:

Muzentu Hut

Rustic (0 out of 7 = 0%)

 

Hut: Shelter against elements for sleeping/ tent site
Toilet: Pit toilet (max 50m, min 20m from hut)
Water: Nearby stream/ pool/ tank (100m max), easily accessible
Washing:Washing in stream (with notice concerning prohibition of using soap in stream) or cold shower only
Braai area: Open, with grate only (if fires are permitted)
Fire wood: Dry tree/ logs with saw/ axe provided

Hut: Basic, weather proof hut/ tent(s) provided
Toilet: Separate toilet building,flush facilities outside hut
Water: Clean drinking water on site
Chairs: Seating without backrest, logs, benches etc.

Washing: Shower (hot and cold with “donkey”)
Braai area: Covered, with grate only
Fire wood: One bundle - enough for braai only

Cooking: Dish washing/ cooking facilities near or next to hut (with table/ surface for cooking)
Garbage disposal: Bin outside hut
Lighting: Candles/ paraffin lamps
Cast iron pot or similar
Clothes hooks
Floor surface: Cement, dung, stone

Luxury ( 12 out of 23 = 52 %)



 



Hut: Good quality hut, cottage or house with several separate rooms
Toilet: Flush toilet in hut (1/6 people)
Water: Clean drinking water inside hut
Chairs: With backrests inside hut
Beds: Single/ double beds (not bunk beds)
Mattresses: Thick (10cm) - high density foam or spring
Washing: Shower and/ or bath (hot & cold water, connected to geyser or “donkey” pre-lit by attendant)
Braai area: Undercover barbecue, with windshield, lapa (1:10 people)
Braai utensils
Fire wood: Ample Chopped wood - also for campfire
Electric kettle
Cooking: Separate “kitchen”/ common room with basin and tap inside hut
Garbage disposal: Bin inside hut or on stoep
